Description

This well-written and well-organized book on fiberoptic bronchoscopy details techniques, technology, and equipment and comprehensively describes anatomy and normal findings.

Purpose

The author clearly intends this as an introduction to bronchoscopy. He shares his extensive experience with the diagnostic and therapeutic use of fiberoptic bronchoscopy.

Audience

Pulmonologists, thoracic surgeons, otolaryngologists, trainees in pulmonary medicine, and undergraduate and postgraduate students will find this book very useful during their training.

Features

Following a brief introduction, chapters cover the technical aspects of the procedure, including equipment, photography, and maintenance of the bronchoscope, and describe the normal anatomy of the tracheobronchial tree.

Chapters on specimen collection and handling are very useful for beginners in the field. The last two chapters are dedicated to benign and malignant lung diseases with companion radiographs. This is a very useful resource for endoscopists to understand the findings in health and disease states.

Experienced bronchoscopists will find this atlas to be a useful refresher.

Assessment

This is a clearly presented atlas on bronchoscopy. Its comprehensive nature will be helpful for busy pulmonologists who wish to quickly review a topic. Downloadable materials are available for an additional cost.
