This book provides good descriptions and illustrations of pediatric ophthalmic surgical procedures, as well as preoperative and postoperative evaluation pearls.
The purpose is to explain various surgical techniques and steps in the field of pediatric ophthalmology.
Residents, fellows, or practitioners looking to improve their surgical knowledge are the intended audience. It will be a good source for young physicians and practicing physicians looking to add techniques and procedures to their surgical scope. The authors are ophthalmologists who perform these surgeries.
The book explains widely accepted as well as new surgical techniques and approaches. It discusses evaluation and management of anterior segment and posterior segment surgeries as well as issues such as bilateral surgery for pediatric patients in addition to biaxial surgery. It touches on glaucoma management and surgery as well as strabismus surgery. It also discusses orbital and nasolacrimal disease evaluation and management in addition to uveitis, retinal tumors, and disease. This book is a good reference, but it does not go into extreme detail for each individual topic.
This is a good reference that addresses a multitude of topics in general and pediatric ophthalmology. It will prove useful for residents, fellows, and practicing physicians.
